Stakeholder participation was done by lottery, and then we had some difficulties getting to the field due to last weeks rain, but as a result, the sites were the greenest I had ever seen them.
Sampling dots generated through a random grid process need to be ground-truthed to be sure there is sufficient soil depth to provide the soil volumes for each sample. The first seven holes we tried, ranged from 6 inches to 2 feet when we needed 3.5 in order to have the soil volume we need.
We found several caves like the one shown above as well as fossils from the sealife that lived at the bottom of the ocean a few hundred million years ago!
One of the challenges we are dealing with is the very thin soil profile making it difficult to get the volumes of soil necessary to split the sampling analysis.
Drainage sediment samples will only be surface samples, whereas non-drainage will include 2-10 ft down

Red dots are non drainage and yellow are the drainage sediment sample locations.
